A night in Hatta.

Make the most of a mountain evening by finding an open view in the direction that matters. Around Hatta, local terrain and nearby lights can vary greatly between observing positions.

Choose altitude over a long wish list

Select a few targets that reach a useful altitude during the time you have. Bright planets and clusters can make a rewarding session even when the background is not dark enough for a faint galaxy. For photographs, check the Moon as both a possible foreground light and a source of reduced sky contrast.

Read the horizon

Ridges, trees and buildings can shorten a viewing window. The planner calculates a level horizon, so check your actual sightline before relying on a low-altitude target. Move away from direct lamps only where it is permitted and safe.

Before you travel

Confirm current availability and night-time access with the accommodation, campsite or venue you plan to visit. Activities and facilities can be seasonal. The official Hatta destination website lists visitor options; the forecast point is not a campsite reservation or route.

See Visit Hatta for official visitor information and current seasonal availability.

Help build the evidence

Observe from a repeatable position and note nearby lighting. Keeping the time, weather and Moon context with each reading makes comparisons between visits more meaningful.

Contribute a measurement or explore the measured sky map. A map point records an observation; it does not certify permanent darkness or access.

The Skydust reference point

24.80° N, 56.12° E · model elevation 350 m. These are Skydust’s existing forecast coordinates. Your observing position may have a different elevation, horizon and lighting.

Use the night planner for a selected date and the Tonight forecast for current model context. The guide does not assign a fixed Bortle class or treat modelled brightness as an instrument measurement. How Skydust estimates observing conditions.
